An interview with agency founder & brand coach Rebecca Farley:

How did your career in branding begin?

I’ve always been entrepreneurial and a hard worker, when I graduated from Uni with my business management degree, my dream was to work in the marketing team for a big brand like L’Oreal but when I got my first “big girl job” in an employer branding agency, I realized the 9-5 life wasn’t for me. Although I was able to learn a lot in my marketing role, and see the behind the scenes of some billion dollar brands like Jaguar Land Rover and Virgin Media – I wanted to make more of an impact with the brands I was working with.

I was passionate about helping women in business, especially working mums thrive and become financially independent. After getting amazing feedback on the branding I had created for a hair products line I’d launched, I decided to start offering brand design services for others and it totally took off.

What’s your life like outside of being a brand coach and designer?

I’m a co-parenting mum of 2 boys who are 6 and 3, so I’ve always been juggling mum life with work since the very beginning. Outside of being a mum and working with my clients I don’t get a lot of time to myself but when I do, I love to work out, try new places to eat with friends, and clean.. I’m a bit of a clean freak! I don’t live a particularly wild life but I do what I love and I’m so grateful for that.

What have been some of the most memorable projects you’ve worked on?

I love all of my clients and projects but if I were to narrow it down, it would be designing a co-branded candle for the Nike Feel Your All Campaign OR helping my client Heather from Niche Brow Bar launch her first product line, it was so rewarding to help expand into a new revenue stream.

What’s the one thing you wish everyone knew about branding?

This is easy, my mantra around creating effective brands that have massive impact on the success of my client’s businesses is that branding is holistic, it’s not an isolated “thing” such as a logo, your business name or what your instagram looks like. A great brand has many layers to it, this is the key to resonating deeply with your dream clients and becoming irreplaceable. I talk about this in my brand checklist that you can access for free by scanning the QR code.
